A new report has indicated to The Buy2Let Shop that there are now more buy-to-let mortgage products on the market for investors than ever before.
Data has consistently indicated that the buy-to-let market provides investors with a range of opportunities to earn attractive profit margins. According to the Guardian, a report carried out by Wriglesworth Consultancy for lender Landbay suggested that buy-to-let has earned landlords returns of almost 1,400% since 1996.
This is significant because 1996 was the year that specialist buy-to-let mortgages were first introduced. These financial products provide investors with the necessary capital to fund a buy-to-let property purchase. This indicates that the introduction of buy-to-let mortgages has fuelled the market, as it provides landlords with ever-increasing returns.
The number of buy-to-let mortgages available to potential landlords on the market has steadily increased throughout the past few years. Introducer Today has reported that the latest Complex Buy to Let Index from specialist broker Mortgages for Business has suggested that there are now 953 buy-to-let mortgage products on the market.
This means that the amount of buy-to-let products available increased 11% within the space of three months. Furthermore this represents a year-on-year rise of 35%, as at this time in 2014 there were only 707 different landlord mortgages to choose from.
David Whittaker, managing director of Mortgages for Business, commented on the release of these figures. He said: “The number of new mortgages coming onto the market has rocketed in recent months. There is huge interest in mortgages suitable for limited companies as landlords take advice from their accountants.”
